Accepting Jesus in my life was easy…but staying and following Him takes commitment, dedication and genuine love for Him. Now I realize the saying, “Being a Christian is a lifestyle.” I think many Christians can agree with that statement.
Many people have asked me about my beliefs, for example, with drinking alcohol. I drink only wine on special occasions, other than my friend’s bridal shower this August 2017, I haven’t taken a sip in the last 10 years. It’s not that I don’t drink because of my faith. It’s because of my faith that I don’t drink. It’s my choice. I am not perfect either, neither am I a saint. I also make mistakes. To be honest, when I wasn’t yet a born-again Christian, I had no choice to sin or not to sin. All that was in my mind was how to achieve my goals, how to get what I want…it was all about ME…ME…ME. Selfishness and pride like most people who are in darkness are engulfed through this idea of freedom but was an actual rebellion. I was in the path of self-destruction. My dreams and goal was to get rich, get pretty and popular and live an easy life.
That changed when I was invited to church by my classmate at my high school. I didn’t know what I was getting into, little did I know, I was being transformed and renewed into a new person. I was beginning to surrender my life to Jesus. Saying Yes to Jesus was the most important decision that I have done in my life. The more I gave my broken pieces of myself to God, he slowly healed my brokenness with His love. He gave me friends that I consider my second family, I surrendered my dreams and goals to Him and He directed me to a career that I would never have imagined doing before. I make twice as much as a regular person as a teacher. He has transformed my spirit and breathed life into my lifeless soul. The more I know about Jesus, the more I crave for more of His love. There is joy in my heart everyday, that not even a rich person can buy out of material things. When I am down, He picks me up, and His promises endure forever.
God loves you as much as he loves me. He wants you to know that you are precious and are loved. Jesus wants you to know that you are born for a purpose, you are beautifully and wonderfully made, He wants you in His family and is waiting for you. When you are weary, He will give you rest, cast all your burdens to him. No matter what you’ve done in the past, He will forgive you and transform and renew your life.
